FFG has been operating the NBC material centre in Kappel in the Hunsrück region since 2012 and since then has ensured the functional readiness of the Bundeswehr's CRBN material management by storing, managing, repairing and manufacturing cross-sectional and weapon system-specific material. On the 41-hectare property of the Kappel Material Centre, some 3,700 different supply items amounting to 1.5 million different individual items are managed. A stock value of 220 million Euro is managed in the CRBN depot. The activities in the area of material management include material receipt, storage and material issue.
Maintenance and production includes testing and diagnosis, care and maintenance as well as repair. The range of tasks extends from the calibration of various measuring instruments to the repair of complete systems such as the TEP 90 or armament systems such as the Fuchs armoured reconnaissance vehicle.
Since the takeover in 2012, FFG has made many investments and implemented numerous optimizations, such as the introduction of SAP or the connection of the CRBN depot to the SASPF interface of the German Armed Forces.
